The Central New Yorker publishes fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, drama, essays, and hybrid work primarily from students of Onondaga Community College (OCC) in Syracuse, New York. From a region rich in intellectual rigor and justice—a region that nourished democracy, abolitionism, immigrant rights, and women’s suffrage—creative thought and discourse seem to be in the air in Central, New York. The aim of this Journal is to continue to nurture and support thoughtful, original writing which reflects the unique perspectives, experiences, and creativity of the OCC student body and community at-large.
